Personal Emoluments
The post of Special Adviser Ls boing abolished and provision has only been included to cover the leave of the present holder. There is an increase of one Administrative Officer who was formerly paid under Miscellaneous Services, "Emoluments of Military Officers on Loan".

There is a reduction of two Class II S.C. Officers, ono clerical officer and five stenographers. There is an increase of one Cypher Assistant, one Class I S.C. & A. Officer (Local Section), eight temporary clerks, one office attendant and one messanger all of whom are required to cope with the evor-growing volume of work.
A Statistical Branch is being created which is responsible for an increase of $22,578 but the salary of the Statistical Officer himself was previously met from the Supplies, Trade and Industry Department vote. The net increase on Personal Emoluments is $31,386.
Other Charges
There
Advertising, Books and Publications, Newspapers and Periodicals are provided for departmentally. is an increase of $4,700 under Fuel, Light and Power and $5,200 under Uniforms, the former vote was under- estimated last year and the latter was inadvertently omitted. A further $2,000 has been provided under Hansard Reports to meet the increase cost of printing. There are small savings under Cleaning of Offices, Incidental Expenses and Office Equipment. The net increase on Other Charges is $15,550.
The not increase on the whole Head is $46,936.
Head 3. Audit Department
Personal Emoluments
Provision has been included for one additional Assistant Auditor. This appointment has become necessary owing to the general increase in work. Somo of this is temporary but much is permanent owing to the creation of new Departments such as Labour, Social Welfare and the Development Secretariat. The introduction of new taxes to augment revenue also means increased work for the Audit Department. No vertheless if it is found after two or three years that this additional post can be dispensed with, no difficulty is anticipated in arranging for the transfer of the holder to another Colony.
Promotions have been made in the Junior Clerical Service but the number of clerks remains unchanged. Four temporary clorks have been placed on the correct
